GRAVIS greatly benefits from the work of volunteers. Over the past several years, many volunteers from India and from abroad have helped us improve the living conditions of desert communities. There are many ways a volunteer can contribute to GRAVIS, depending on his or her capacity, interest, and inclination. Some examples include:

Working with impoverished desert communities is a challenging yet enlightening experience. GRAVIS carries out its projects at the grassroots level, at field centres located in the heart of the Thar Desert. Life in these areas is harsh. People suffer from a vicious combination of intense poverty and water scarcity, often lacking proper nutrition, healthcare, and education. In the vicinity of GRAVIS' field centres, volunteers may encounter  poverty-stricken, emaciated faces longing for a few drops of water, haunting eyes questioning the laws of nature, and parched terrain eroding the existence of its inhabitants bit by bit. But for volunteers, these heart-wrenching sights are countered with the knowledge that they've done their part to make things better. There's nothing more rewarding than devoting your time and energy to lifting others from the depths of poverty.
